研究方向

人腦創造了許多高科技的產物,甚至建造了超級電腦,可是我們對自己腦是如何運作的卻依舊非常地模糊。揭開大腦是如何運作是一個令人著迷的問題,本實驗室目前的研究主題主要是專注在情緒焦慮,認知學習記憶,生理運動,腦創傷和腦中風方面。研究的方法主要是以小鼠的動物模式,來探討基因,腦神經細胞結構,生理賀爾蒙與動物行為,希望藉此來試著解開基因與神經的運作之謎。

目前實驗室的研究有以下幾個議題:

1) 個體成年後,腦中增生的新神經細胞其生理上的功能為何?
2) 運動如何讓腦神經細胞更健康,是透過如何機制?
3) 要如何讓年老的神經細胞年輕化?有哪些可能的候選因子?
4) 利用基因治療來修復腦創傷或是腦中風?

We, human beings, invent many high-tech products, such as super computers. However, we know little about how the brain works. Discovering how the brain functions is one of the most fascinating challenges in science. In our lab, we use animal models to investigate how genes regulate anxiety, stress, learning memory, exercise, brain injury, and ageing. We are particularly interested in how to use gene therapy to improve brain health and function.

Our current research focuses on-
1. What is the function of adult neurogenesis in the hippocampus?
2. How does exercise benefit out brain and by what molecular mechanisms?
3. How can we make the ageing brain younger? What are the candidate factors?
4. How can we repair brain damage? What are the candidate genes?
